I'll try....

The error is coming from the boot loader (grub) and is likely because
it is trying to boot an invalid partition/slice. Between doing the
install and booting the installed system, something has got confused.
Suggest you boot the OpenSolaris image and when prompted for Solaris
or failsafe, press "e" when Solaris is highlighted and try changing
the root location. It will be something like "(hd,0,0,a)". Try
changing the second number to 0 or 1. Then press "b" and if all
works, find the entry in /boot/grub/menu.lst and update it to reflect
the manual change you made.

Someone may be able to give more explicit directions, but if they
don't just have a go.

Good Luck.
