Are Pre-SVR4 packages supported in Solaris? I have no idea what an SVR3 style package looks like, and I don't think I've ever come across one. But there are one or two odd bits of code (in usr/src/lib/libadm/common/pkgnmchk.c in ON, for example, or in src/bundled/app/pkgcmds/libinst/psvr4ck.c in the install source, or presvr4.c in pkgadd and pkgrm) that appear to be leftovers of SVR3 package support.
