Has anyone tried/succeeded in fully installing S11/SXCE on a Tyan S3992 motherboard-based system?
I bought one of their TA26(B3992) barebones server chassis to use as a fileserver because of it's convenient 8-bay hotswap SATA front panel, and figured that whatever bumps would appear in the road I could work around. System Info: (see http://www.tyan.com/products/html/ta26b3992_spec.html) Opteron 2212 x1 1Gb x2 Crucial 533MHz ecc ;mem Built-in: Atapi DVDRom (slave) on primary "standard" IDE ctlr Broadcom "Serverworks" chipset BCM5780/BCM5785 with 2x BCM GbE 4x SATA-II ports (configurable either PATA or SATA via BIOS) National PC87417 "Super IO" Intel 82551QM 100Bt Ethernet ATI ES1000 display ctlr Success so far: Have S11 b54 up on single SATA drive, with BCM set to emulate PATA. Ethernet works on Intel interface. Serial ports work. ATI display adapter works. USB ports work (at least for mouse and floppy) Failures so far: Cannot install from ATAPI/IDE DVDRom -- distribution boots properly (Grub thru kernel load), but IDE bus hangs after autoconfig starts and first access is made to mount DVD filesystems. Cannot activate BCM GbE -- new PCI identifier "pci14e4,166a" not recognized by "bge" driver, even after adding alias with "update_drv -d '"pci14e4,166a"' bge". Cannot run SATA in native mode; will be moving to a Marvell-based PCI-X card soon. Anyone else experimented with this board yet? This message posted from opensolaris.org
