Well, you have to tell us which commands are failing. You could be missing a compiler, or have a bad PATH, or a million other things. But, if you really want pkg-config, just install SUNWgnome-common-devel. It doesn't necessarily make good sense to me why it's there, but oh well.
You're likely going to have more problems after you install that package and attempt to make ntfs-g3, but again, we'll need to know what commands are failing.
