That sounds like it could be the failure to load dcfs
module problem that I and a few others came across:

6674815 panic: mod_hold_stub failure to load fs/dcfs on x86 and amd64

If you boot with -k you'll be able to verify whether the panic
string and stack trace match what's in that bug.
