Hi, I have installed Open Solaris on Sun x86 servers without any trouble. However, when I use the same DVD to install it on Desktop, I get an error.
After selecting Solaris interactive install from the List of install options, the install hangs up and I can see the following text on screen, ---CUT--- Cannot Create /var/dt/sdtlogin directory for display manager pipe: No such file or directory X Window System Version 1.3.0 Release Date: 19 April 2007 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 1.3 Build Operating System: SunOS 5.11 snv_98 i86pc Build Date: 17 September 2008 Solaris ABI: 32-bit Before reporting problems check http://sunsolve.sun.com/ to make sure that you have the latest version. (==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Wed Oct 8 06:44:28 2008 (EE) Unable to locate/open config file ---CUT--- This is where the installation hangs. I have tried the text mode installtion using console too. The installation completes when I use the text mode using console. But after installation, when the system reboots, I do not see the login screen. Instead I just see the login prompt. What is going wrong? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
