   You can try this. Go to console login:
   svcadm disable gdm

   Now login and assume root role and remove the NVDAgraphics package:
   pkg uninstall NVDAgraphics

   Now install the downloaded Nvidia package.
   Re-enable gdm:
   svcadm enable gdm; exit 0
