You probably shouldn't have done this. 'unknown' means that the 
installer doesn't know what the current partition id (that the windows 
installer assigned that partition) means. By setting it to "PRI DOS" you 
asked the installer to change the ID.

This is probably because the windows installer doesn't create a primary 
dos partition. It (by default) creates an NTFS partition.

If you hadn't changed the partition ID in the Solaris installer, then 
after you added Windows to the menu.lst file, Windows proably would have 
worked fine.

If you used gparted to change the windows partition ID back to NTFS the 
Windows install probably would have started working again.

That should also fix the problem, since the windows installer will setup 
the partition ID to NTFS again and reformat the partition.

You may need to use the dvd to boot into solaris, and get GRUB to 
reinstall it's boot block in the MBR also.
