I've been meaning to get up to speed on what choices are being made for the user. I would like to review them and provide input to the project.
One example of an area that concerns me is the root volume/filesystem/swap autolayout. RedHat allows choices of filesystem type for the root filesystem, as well as allows configuring the LVM for filesystem layout. I understand the thought is that ZFS will be used for everything, but there are cases where one may not want to use ZFS. There are decisions like these that I feel we should provide the option for the user to make. (As they can't be made post install). Also, I have never ever been happy with the default filesystem and disk layouts of any operating system installer. :) One thing we might want to include is installer "tracks" for various uses. e.g server, desktop.... Thanks, Brian P.S. - Sorry for the late request, I've been meaning to ask about this since the summit preso. -- - Brian Gupta http://opensolaris.org/os/project/nycosug/
