Jyothi,

We need more information to figure out why installer complaints that
there is not enough space to complete upgrade. Even though you may have
30 GB allocated for Solaris, it may be split in to multiple file systems
like /, /usr and /export/home. You can exit the installer when you get
the error message and look at the file /tmp/upgrade_space_required. This
will inform you how the installer sees the space requirements.

Read under the section *Upgrading With Disk Space Reallocation *in
the link
http://docs.sfbay.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-6764/6n8onr7pj?a=view#esimx
to get an understanding of why disk space allocation is required. If you
want to know more about providing backup media location, check the table
under 'backup_media profile keyword' at
http://docs.sfbay.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-6397/6n8dpr9ff?a=view

gparted cannot be used to expand solaris file systems (slices).
gparted deals with fdisk partitions.

Thanks,
Sundar
