Although I did not understand your question.... here are few clues:

- you cannot increase the size of folder (except the whole discussion
around quotas) but a partition/slice - so you may want to increase the
size of /tmp, that can be done if you have some slice or empty space
left on a hard drive.

- you also may need only some extra swap (you can add it with the swap command)
