As Ethan noted, the problem James had is a direct result of using the text installer, which doesn't account for the tools at all. We will be using the Dwarf Caiman installer for the next SXDE release and the slice layout will be done quite a bit differently, see this thread: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=31265&tstart=0 We'll be substantially revising the whole thing when we switch to ZFS anyway.
