In theory there is no reason why a core install of Solaris can not be done
locally and then the rest can be fetched and pkg-get installed from a
catalog on any public server. In fact, it would take very little work to
setup such a thing as an experiment.

Essentially there is no difference between one SVR4 complaint package and
another. If we can pkg-get -i libpango and its dependencies :

    http://www.blastwave.org/packages.php/libpango

Then there is no reason that we can not also pkg-get -i SUNWgnome-games or
any other SVR4 package format from within the Solaris Operating system.

In fact ... I think that the guys in the Sun Studio group asked me about
this a year ago and we somehow got busy with other things. It would be a
snap to install Studio 12 via pkg-get -i studio12 or similar.

I am thinking ... that it would be nice to setup such an experiment.
