This article on O'reilly Net makes some interesting comparisons between PC-BSD and Ubuntu installation: http://www.linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linux/2007/08/23/linux-vs-bsd-whats-the-difference.html
Of relevance to this discuss is the PC-BSD PBIs (Push Button Installers) use case and the PBI Directory. This seems to be a source of gravitational pull for developers and users alike, where they can find not only the app to download, but also download stats, a search utility, and evidence of an obviously active community. Would be great to see Sun's Connected Systems program offer this level of integration with OpenSolaris. This message posted from opensolaris.org
