Mary: the Ultra20 has 1G of RAM Narendra: being an Ultra20 it was the x86 DVD I used.
The installation was perfectly fine, except for missing the files I mentioned. I was just puzzled as to why it could happen with all the checksums involved in the process of creating and installing from the DVD. I'll provide the logs, if anyone is still interested.
