It would probably be more useful to figure out why the ludelete fails. I don't know that anyone's tried to "remove LU completely" and start over. The reason documentation doesn't exist for such a procedure is likely because it's not needed (imo). You could try uninstalling and reinstalling the Live Upgrade packages SUNWluu, SUNWlur (and if your running build 53 SUNWlucfg). But I'm not sure it's going to wipe out every last trace of Live Upgrade. There's an /etc/lu directory and /etc/lutab file that you'll probably want to nuke. Keep in mind, I've never done this, it's not supported, and your very likely to make things worse going this route.
