Is there any way to override this error: pkgadd: ERROR: The package <SUNWcar.i> may only be installed by the global zone administrator
So you ask, Why would you want to do such a thing? I'm playing around with creating minimal embedded Solaris configurations, where the packages typically get installed to a "miniroot" directory. To save additional space, I'm manually removing all types of files, executables, shared objects, and directories. Terrified that one day I would mistakenly remove all of the components from the global "/" directory instead of "minroot", I figured I'd do this somewhat dangerous work inside a local zone. At least there's a recourse for recovery. Thanks, -- Jim C This message posted from opensolaris.org
