IPS is inferior in this respect.
Not inferior, just not feature complete. It's a work-in-progress. There are plans to provide an 'on-disk' format for IPS packages (repo on a DVD for instance). It just isn't implemented yet (along with a ton of other things). Whether or not it provides the same functionality as SVR4 did remains to be seen. But to call something that isn't even finished yet inferior compared to something that hasn't been improved upon significantly in years seems wrong to say the least imho. -- Glenn
