This certainly wouldn't be an unusual request from hobbyists coming from that background. But that's not Linux, so maybe it doesn't count.
To my mind, you'll have to put some thought behind how you handle the evolving release stream. And how do I put in my own custom config or is there a generic sys config? I'd certainly be interested in using it myself, that's for sure. *IF* I could reasonably assure myself the delivery path were secure and the delivery system was itself trustworthy. I maintain a number of sparc boxen with SXCE and the whole DVD/no CD thing becomes a chore so they are aging quite well.
