I will suggest you run iostat -E and check for errors in your CDROM 
drive.  From my past experience, if you get Fast Data Access MMU Miss, 
you can try reset or reset-all from the ok prompt.  That might clear up 
the hardware error and you can try booting the cdrom again and see 
whether it works.
