Ok, I know IPS is all about network, and that I really should "pkg image-update" my way to 2009.06. BUT since pkg.opensolaris.org seems to overloaded, that IPS still doesnt have a mirror update server mechanism (or does it?), and that one of the reason I want to upgrade is to get better NIC drivers because 2008.11 is causing me trouble, I would really, really like to be able to update using that nice shiny DVD of 2009.06 I just burned.
The new DVD boots extra-fine on the machine, and I've launched the installer, but no, no upgrade there. I find it hard to believe that there is no way of doing this, and that IPS has no provision for installing from files. I can see this being a big deal in some environments with limited connectivity (i.e. for security or geographical reasons). Anybody? I dont want to go back to XFS + Samba! -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
