When one chooses Solaris Developer Express, Edition from the GRUB menu, only GUI install is available. For graphical install more memory is needed because of a couple of things that were putback into bld55.
1. JRE 1.6 bulked by 60-80MB (I cannot recall the exact number) but it's about 200MB. This directly sucks up space on the ramdisk. 2. The decision into launch text or graphical mode by the installer depends on available memory. The tool reporting this was buggy and often was incorrectly optimistic ;-). That was fixed. To give you an idea of how wrong this was, prior to the fix, on a specific configuration it was reporting 96 MB of free memory. After the fix it reported 20MB!!! Thus for GUI install 512MB is not sufficient. -Sanjay This message posted from opensolaris.org
