Live upgrade is very convenient. But patching itself is still slow...

Be biggest problem of the patches as used for Solaris 10 is that we  allow
installing patches to the system on a live system.  That requires us to 
build backout patches and it's building the backout patches that takes a 
lot of the time needed.  You may want to check the time it takes to 
install a patch without building the backout files.  (-d)
