You might check if a newer X4440 BIOS is available, and see if it has
a different default for the ACPI setting.

We don't have any X4440's, but I recently installed new SP/BIOS firmware
(the 2.1 release) on an X4170;  The new BIOS defaulted to ACPI v3.0, and
the pre-installed Solaris-10U7 booted and ran without problems.  I'd guess
that if S10 has no problems with ACPI v3.0, your Nevada b124 should be
fine as well.

As an aside, I've noticed recent AMD and Intel BIOS's are defaulting
to PowerNOW/SpeedStep being enabled, too.  Seems to work just fine
on our Solaris-10 (U5 and later) systems.
