If you're using synaptic I would have to assume you're using the Nexenta distribution, in which case you should direct your question to them. However, if you're interested in having this available in the OpenSolaris contrib repository, you might contact the software porters community, http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Community+Group+sw-porters/.
