Thank you for your quick reply, but to answer your question, yes and no.  With 
the Solaris installer that I was accustomed to (Solaris 9), during the 
interactive install, you could create slices in the Solaris partition and then 
create a filesystem on that slice (ie /var on slice 3, /opt on slice 5, 
/export/home on slice 7, etc.).   The current installer does not allow this.  
It seems that the installer likes to have one slice and one file system.  It 
has been quite some time since I last used Solaris and I am trying to adjust to 
OpenSolaris.  Thank you for this vital information.
