That's not embarrassing. For some of us, a BIOS upgrade isn't an option. Many thanks to Asus for that and my motherboard (Asus M3N WS).
Was another solution ever found? By solution, I don't mean a "hack" solution that will result in not being able to fully use the maximum number of cores or one that results in slow reads. Has the newest developer copy worked around this? I was just going to use FreeNAS/FreeBSD for my application, but I'd have to recompile the kernel to support my IO card. That's not a problem in itself, but if I'm going to go to that bother I thought I'd at least give OpenSolaris another glance as I prefer its ZFS implementation.
