So I got this working now I think, I have not booted both OS's yet, but I managed to get them both installed. The thing I missed was step #6 in:
http://weblogs.java.net/blog/bleonard/archive/2008/05/_opensolaris_20.html Which is to change the EFI partition ID from EE to AF In Summary: Boot the Snow Leopard DVD Start the disk utility, create two partitions, must be EFI, not MBR. The first first partition is MacOS journaled The Second partition is DOS. Install OSX Reboot, change the EFI partition ID of the DOS partition. Boot the OpenSolaris DVD and install this.
