Ok. I think you're getting closer.

I'm guessing this installer may have been written for an earlier
Solaris (like Solaris 10?)

Try removing /usr/gnu/bin from your $PATH and running it again like above.

If that doesn't work, try substituting each of the following (one at a
time) for the 'sh' in the command above:

/usr/has/bin/sh
/usr/bin/ksh
/usr/bin/ksh93
/usr/bin/bash
