We are using the PDFBox plug-in to index PDF files 
(http://www.pdfbox.org/)... Perhaps a problem with certain types of PDF 
with their library... Or is it a large PDF file (then of course, Jahia will 
need to index it after you attach it a field and this may take some time)? 
Would it be possible to send to me (privately) the PDF file you use for 
your tests? Thanks.

Thank you for the swift reply and all the good suggestions.
I have created the indexes against our database but it does not seem to 
make any difference.

However I was able to reproduce the problem more or less by narrowing it down.
When I add a new container of File type, I select a certain pdf and click 
on Ok  it then takes about 2-4 minutes just to add it to the parent container.

Selection of other files results in instantaneous response!
I don't expect getting an immediate solution to this problem but maybe it 
will give you some new ideas?
