Bob, the AERO/OMNI specs are also asking for an Ethernet number, IP protocol and UDP port number for what appear to be very similar purposes (actually we already have the UDP port) – the request has been sitting latent in the specs for a long time.
What do you want to use these SCHC values for, and/or could we use them for AERO/OMNI? Ahem, after I get through some working with students to get some ArduPilot coding going, I really need to get serious on this draft. Sigh. Name: draft-ietf-intarea-schc-protocol-numbers Revision: 02 Title: Protocol Numbers for SCHC Date: 2024-04-08 Group: intarea Pages: 9 URL: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ietf-intarea-schc-protocol-numbers-02.txt Status: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-intarea-schc-protocol-numbers/ HTML: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ietf-intarea-schc-protocol-numbers-02.html HTMLized: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-ietf-intarea-schc-protocol-numbers Diff: https://author-tools.ietf.org/iddiff?url2=draft-ietf-intarea-schc-protocol-numbers-02 Abstract: This document requests an Internet Protocol Number, an Ethertype, and UDP port assignment for SCHC. The Internet Protocol Number request is so that SCHC can be used for IP independent SCHC of other transports such as UDP and ESP. The Ethertype is to support generic use of native SCHC over any IEEE 802 technology for IP and non-IP protocols. The UDP port request is to support End-to-End SCHC through potentially blocking firewalls. The IETF Secretariat
