This e-mail is to let everyone know what the
status of the various proposals on the Internet
area is.

You may have already seen that all BOF proposals
and related documentation can be accessed via the
BOF wiki page at:
http://www1.tools.ietf.org/bof/trac/wiki/WikiStart

On the Internet area we got three proposals:

1. DSMI (Dual-Stack Moving Internet)

This was a proposal to extend
NETLMM functionality to handle IPv4 and
    allow federated local mobility domains.

No BOF will be run in IETF-67. However,
I stated that once NETLMM WG has a
stable base protocol we can talk about
extensions. IPv4 is an obvious task, and
would only need a minor charter change.
    Roaming/federation needs more discussion,
but could possible be handled through another
    rechartering or BOF at IETF-68.

2. SAVA (Source Address Validation Architecture)

This was a proposal to go beyond ingress
filtering and RPF to achieve better validation
of source addresses in the Internet. The
goal was to address a number of different
issues in this space, but the part that I
    personally found most interesting was
source address validation at the destination
    network side.

No BOF will be run in IETF-67, but as
better mechanisms in this space would
be useful, we hope to see further work.
For instance, the set of new solutions that
we know are being worked on is very
interesting. With a tightly defined scope
and a demonstrated set of solutions ready
for engineering this could perhaps be
a BOF in IETF-68. In the meantime we
are thinking of either giving some time
in the open area meeting or organizing
a bar BOF in San Diego.

3. MPI (Mobile Platform Internet)

This was a proposal to address the needs of
the airline industry as they enhance existing
    entertainment/Internet access networks and
move legacy service and control communications
to run over IP networks. Specific needs in the
area of routing to moving networks and
    network access control were listed.

There is no BOF for this at IETF-67 either.
Instead, the specific issues will be taken to
the relevant working groups such as NEMO.
In addition, work continues in the airline
    industry standardization bodies and further
issues may come up and be taken to either
existing WGs or addressed via future BOFs.

As you can see, we hope that work progresses
on all of these topics in various forms. Please
contribute to the efforts.
