I'm on Windows Server 2008 No problems with hibernation, sleep.
About resolution - are you talking about external displays? Problems with "exotic" resolutions on new LCD and TVs are well known - forums are full of solutions for solving those problems. I run games from 640x480 to 1280x800 (max on my nx7300) and also some strange resolutions with epsxe - I have no problems here. I now that I had some issues (on old drivers - WHQL for GMA 950) with opengl applications running in a window even If they were told to run fullscreen - all I had to do was to turn off the scaling in graphic properieties.
