No way, you have multiple options to recover your data. 1. Burn a bootable linux or otherwise cd and copy your data to a new patition or external device. 2. Take your laptop out and connect it to a caddy or appropriate laptop to desktop adapter. 3. Take your chances and do a full install over your existing partition without reformatting, I had to do this once and recovered all of my data. If you have any questions just ask.
