Use patch 3204. It includes the ability to start UT2K4 with the D3D9 driver, which performs FAR better then the D3D8 on XP.
With the D3D9 I can play UT2K4 with everything on high except the color detail, I just have it on 16-bit. It stays around 20-40FPS INTEL 9xx SOLDIERS SANS FRONTIERS
