Well, with MD the registry for hl2.exe is already in place, so after you install MD, CS:S is good 2 go.
As for NFS Carbon, it might be already added, I'm not too sure but if not, you can use either the addgame.reg or the Intel manager. And yea, Intel manager and addgame.reg are the same thing.
