Hmm, compared to RAM useage of XP vs 7, 7 uses around 100-200 more mbs of RAM. But even then when I managed to get win7's RAM usage to around 435MB WoW still went slowly.
My guess is that it related to gfx drivers. XP graphics drivers run most games of mine better. If I use XP gfx drivers inside vista or 7, performance is almost the same (maybe 2-3 FPS missing). However, as soon as I switch to either stock or MD belonging to vista or 7, performance drops for these games. service tweaking, closing all open programs, and general OS tweaking barely did anything. I think it has to do with WDDM or something along those lines. But then again why is XP's better? unless games were specifically made for XP's. But still WDDM should have compatibility with these said games. But IMO, a tweaked OS will do nothing unless it does something specifically to fix/tweak the WDDM... It might give a tiny bit more FPS, but thats about it (for older games). I'm talking in terms of a 945GM. 965 users may have better luck with a tweaked OS idk though...
