I heard about this in non-intel systems. The robust thing does make a noticiable difference, although idk exactly what it does.
And yes increasing PCI frequency affects every device (i belive?) on any machine that can OC it. And with a dual core cpu already, i'd just recommend doing a PCI bus frequency increase. Although i OC'd my laptop from 1.6ghz to 1.8ghz and it didn't really do much to the temperature. maybe even increasing the voltage might boost performance with very little temperature modifications.
