Hmm nice guide. I just keep my system clean by keeping stuff off it to start wtih :p (My system rarely goes to only 20GB space left, I usually reformat before that happens)
I reformat to test OS's mostly though. Longest time an OS has been on my laptop was maybe 1-2 months and that was XP. When I test OS's, I test one game, WoW lol. So far XP plays it the best. Mac OS X seemed to play UT2K4 the best however. If I decide to optimize up my system, heres the routine I go through. - Clean browser cache - Delete downloaded, unneeded files - Uninstall anything I don't want - Run Disc Cleanup (may want to add CCleaner here as well, I don't use it though) - Run Scan Disk (sometimes) - Defrag with O&O 12 Pro, complete optimize method - Scan for malware with avast free edition (rarely) On Tue, Mar 23, 2010 at 8:07 AM, Rudolph <[email protected]> wrote: > hmm. > you should also check to DEFRAG.. > but I suppose thats just given. > also not only Program Data, application data, > And download CCleaner to keep your registry clean. > > Good guide :D > > On Mar 22, 2:01 am, MAD_BEAST <[email protected]> wrote: >> 1) Create 2 partitions >> >> A-B >> >> A) SYSTEM = WINDOWS >> B) Everything else = Music, games, videos, docs, pics, bla bla bla >> >> separate everything is main folders: >> Music >> Videos >> Games >> Pics >> Docs >> Stuff >> .... >> .... >> >> Name Games folder "1AGAMES" >> >> -right click on the partition D/properties/ Compress EVERYTHING >> when everyting has been compressed in D partition >> -right click on the partition D/properties/ UNcompres EVERYTHING >> >> *Pay attention the bar will show what is being uncompressed, stop the >> uncompressing proces right AFTER "1AGAMES" folder has been >> uncompressed. >> >> that way the system compresses everything EXCEPT the files in the >> "1AGAMES" >> >> why compress the other? and why not to compress "1AGAMES"? becuase >> compressed files require more processing, while simple files, apps, >> and others dont require the same ammount of resources to be calculated >> >> now everytime you install a game in the "1AGAMES" it will be >> uncompressed, but every file you place some where else will be >> compressed to save space. >> >> DO NOT COMPRESS Partition C unless you want free space but a slower >> system... therefore gaming. >> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ >> Go to C folder / Organize/ Folder options/ View/ show hidden files. >> go to folder Program data and look for the folders of and unistalled >> programs, and delet them. >> >> these folders contain information of the unistalled program, but this >> info wont be deleted with the UNISTALL process. >> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ >> >> PEACE ON EARTH > > -- > INTEL 9xx SOLDIERS SANS FRONTIERS > > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to > intel9x-gaming+unsubscribegooglegroups.com or reply to this email with the > words "REMOVE ME" as the subject. > -- Espionage724 Has A Signature... -- INTEL 9xx SOLDIERS SANS FRONTIERS To unsubscribe from this group, send email to intel9x-gaming+unsubscribegooglegroups.com or reply to this email with the words "REMOVE ME" as the subject.
