Well the problem was a pretty easy fix actually, I have a non-steam copy of
cs:s so it will not suffer from any update issues, it was actually caused by
Alpha 1 (noticed this in Killing Floor when my fps was well below playable
on the lowest settings. I un installed it and reinstalled it with every
single method ever mentioned on this group and then some, in the end I just
gave up with trying to get I Alpha 1 to work so I reinstalled the win7 v1.1
modded and it is running perfectly now, then I noticed the new V1.1E so I
will have to update it soon lol, thanks guys for the suggestions, still real
weird that I used different copy's of the MD, downloaded from 3 different
computers, two of those on different connections. I used two different USB's
to transfer to rule out that and I also downloaded it straight fron the
laptop and that didn't work either, install from disk, auto find, browse for
drivers, slip install (different from slip streaming), force install, clean
installations, install from a network location, safe mode installation,
device removal and reinstallation and much more and all these failed to
produce a working Alpha 1, took one attempt to install win7 V1.1 and it was
seamless so yeah, weird huh?

Of course it's the new engine, I hope you can run DoD:S, L4D or HL2:E2

On a semi-related note, is there any way I can run the game again on
my gma 945/1 gig/vista/sigma 3.1?
