Let me make one thing clear, 945GME has exactly the same performance of 945GM, except the fact that it doesn't support playback of first generation protected content, other than that it's identical, performance wise. And yes, ever since vista that intel drivers (945 ones that work for everything from 940GL to all 945 variants), but curiously 945GME had two entries in the device manager under display adapters, even if in the inf there was only 1 entry. About the fix for V1.1/1.1E that enabled other notebook users like me with 945GME and apparently netbook users with 945GSE, it is simply using an older entry made initially for 945GM, just adapted for this device ID, from my understanding. I haven't tried V1.2 yet, mainly because of the experimental opengl support, but given the amount of users with chipsets of the embedded branch, I might try it to see how it fares on my system.
