First of all, you guys are talking about laptops when OP's machine is
a desktop computer. With laptops there used to be so proprietary
changes to BIOS in order for components to be less interchangeable.

Virtually all desktop machines I used can downclock higher rated
memory to match slower modules installed on said machine. Do note that
this was also with machines from the previous century.

Unless you're planning to use that memory on another computer, there
is absolutely no point in getting 800MHz modules, unless you can find
them cheaper than 667MHz. Otherwise, just get 667MHz as it is the best
fit for your system.
