In fact I can second Intel9sexsex's statement: There ARE "cracks" that fix software bugs. Although a crack is normally used to circumvent the copy protection, some cracks added real value to the software by fixing bugs (that were NOT meant as any form of copy protection). If you want me to, I can provide some examples (alternatively, you can have a look at the old thread - some examples have been mentioned there already...)
