On the 7955 build I'm not too sure. My 3100 (not X3100) didn't have a driver after install and I didn't bother trying to get one yet.
My Radeon HD 3200 came with some "Engineering Sample" driver and I can't use XP or 7 video drivers. If I heard correctly, versions below 7955 of Win8 will let you do Win7 video drivers. But as for my Radeon HD 3200, D3D9 and D3D10 worked fine, just very little to no OpenGL support (I can try to live without Minecraft for a little while).
