This news item is about 40 years behind the ball.  That bacteria generate gold 
has
been known for at least 40 years, and they claim that how they do it is not 
known,
although that has also been known for about 40 years as well.  It is covered in 
the
book "Biological Transmutation" published by Louis Kervra in 1972 and has been
determined to be that these bacteria are capable of transmuting silver (and 
perhaps
copper) to gold.  You would think they would do a library research before 
spending
time and money duplicating efforts.
