Hi Lists! There is still traffic from time to time on the "Qt-Interest" list ([email protected]). My understanding is that it has been replaced by the "Interest" list ([email protected]). (Please correct me if I am wrong.)
It's not a big deal, but it's a minor nuisance to monitor both lists. Maybe more of an issue is that the archives get split up, so that a search has to search two places. Anyway, would it make sense to shut down the old Qt-Interest list? Perhaps we could send a message announcing the shut down to both lists, and add a banner (top, rather than bottom, if possible) to all messages on the old Qt-Interest list announcing the shut down, and providing a link to the sign-up page for the new Interest list, and then pull the plug on it on some agreed-upon date. (I'd give it a month.) I don't know what the mailing-list software can do easily, but maybe we could even have the old list cross-post its traffic to the new list during the transition period. I guess that this would be a job primarily for the administrators of the old list. (I understand that we're not supposed to automatically migrate subscribers from the old list to the new.) (If I'm wrong that we want to have only one list, could someone let me -- and others -- know what sort of traffic is appropriate for the old list, and what for the new?) Happy Listing! K.
