I did some more testing and I seem to have the same problem on a number of RedHat Linux computers. The problem is: starting qtcreator is unsuccessful, it crashes with a core dump after printing the QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap messages. I just installed qt 4.8 (SDK) and am using qtcreator that came with the SDK. It is a 64bit version, I get the same problem on a 32bit Linux where I installed the 32bit version of the 4.8 SDK.
