Ah, hah! You do it from a terminal window, with a command-line option. On a Macintosh, since the .app is really a bundle directory, you do something like this: cd /qtbuild/install/macosx/bin/Assistant.app/Contents/MacOS ./Assistant -rebuild-search-index It thinks for half a minute or so, then searching is magically restored. I agree with David- it seems like a bug that it doesn't automatically re-index when the help files change. -John Weeks
