I would actually like to see these items, but I meant to explain them: 1. Alternate Latency -- NetHealth has a very cool feature where you can measure the latency between router B and C, even though you are connected to router A (which connects to B). I believe it does this with a SNMP write message to router B, telling it to ping router C and report back the latency. In our environment, that would be *very* useful. 2. Event correlation -- I imagine most folks already know what this is... 3. Interface Descriptions -- More than "FastEthernet0/0". Cisco routers allow one to set a description on an interface, which is displayed in the running configuration and via SNMP: ifMIB.ifMIBObjects.ifXTable.ifXEntry.ifAlias.8 = *** VAX Subnet *** ifMIB.ifMIBObjects.ifXTable.ifXEntry.ifAlias.9 = *** Firewall Segment *** It would be nice if IM could also display this entry under the "Interface Information" section of the pop up screen for a link, perhaps between interface description and media type. -- Rudy -----Original Message----- From: Willis, Rudy BGI SF Sent: Saturday, October 26, 2002 9:43 PM To: 'InterMapper Discussion' Subject: Intermapper - Couple suggestions I would like to see the following: Alternate Latency Event Correlation Interface Descriptions (User Subnet) ____________________________________________________________________ Note: To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please send email to: <mailto:InterMapper-Talk-off@;list.dartware.com> Thanks!
