Matt:
Thanks for the note. There are two answers to your question: technical and
administrative.
1) Bill Fisher's previous note is a good description of how to migrate from one
machine to another
2) I also wanted to mention that we treat InterMapper for Unix and Windows as a
separate product from the "traditional" version you're currently using. Since
this has been a significant rewrite of the Mac-only version, you cannot freely
switch from the Mac version to Windows or Unix.
We do offer a 50% discount to Mac customers with a current support subscription
if they wish to switch to the Unix or Windows version. The details are explained
at:
http://www.dartware.com/pricing/faq.html
As a practical matter, you might be better off to stay with the MacOS version
for a little longer. The Unix/Windows version does not yet support strip charts
or the device list (they'll appear in future versions over the next 2-4 months).
They will be covered by the support subscription, as well.
Long term, our plan is to retain feature parity between all versions - MacOS,
Windows, Unix. And this will be true for the forseeable future. These versions
all compile from the same source code, and features will be added to all
versions simultaneously. (There is the exception noted above, that the strip
charts and device list are missing from the Windows/Unix version, but they're
under heavy development right now.)
Finally, our advice to customers is that, unless you have strong reasons to
prefer a Unix/Windows solution, you should continue your support subscription to
InterMapper and InterMapper Remote. That will give you access to all the
features that come down the pike.
Please get back to me if you have further questions. Thanks.
